Norway Will Open Borders to Russia

According to local newspaper Nordlys, the statements came during a rally in Kirkenes on Tuesday, when the Progress Party MP Jan Henrik Fredriksen was asked if he wanted to make it easier for Russians to come to Norway.

Fredriksen lives in Sør-Varanger municipality and he wants to strenghten the region’s historical and geographical ties with Russia by opening the way to immigration from east.

The right-wing populist Progress Party leadership previously announced a major tightening of immigration to Norway, if the party gets into government.
