Prime Minister Congratulates the Winner of the Nobel Peace Prize 2010

– The Nobel Committee's decision highlights the human rights situation in China and stresses on the relationship between development, democracy and universal human rights. Liu Xiaobo is awarded with the prize for his defense of free speech and democracy in a way that he deserves attention and respect, " said the Norwegian Prime Minister.

Stoltenberg also noted that China has had a strong economic and social progress in recent decades. The standard of living has incread with this development and icreasing population has increased individual freedom. At the same time challenges in front of several universal human rights still remain.

– Norway has a good and comprehensive cooperation with China. Our relations are long term and covers all areas concerning our two countries together. Discussion on human rights is a part of this relationship, " said the Prime Minister.
