AP Nominates Andersen for Jagland’s Position

After Jagland’s victory in CoE presidency election, the Labor Party (AP)nominated Labor and Social Inclusion Minister, Dag Terje Andersen (52) for the post of president of Stortinget(Norwegian Parliement).

According to the Norwegian laws, Andersen must resign from his ministry before the National Assembly gathers in October, 8. Therefore, he is expected to resign in favor of the presidency positionin this week.

It is Parliament that chooses its own president by written vote.

Dag Terje Andersen has been elected from Vestfold county for the first time in 1997. He was the industry minister from late 2006 to 20 June 2008 and then he was assigned as Labor and Social Inclusion minister.
