Hundreds of Romanians Protest in Bucharest Child Protection Service of Norway

5 children of the Romanian couple living in Norway, Marius and Ruth Bodnariu have been taken away by Barnevernet on 16 November. Among other things, the parents and grandparents were accused to be radical Christians and are indoctrinating their children.

After the incident, a Facebook group and an online petition were created to support the family. Some Christian organizations were also invovled in the campaign. 

In the frame of the support campaign, a series of street protests are planned to make pressure on the Norwegian authorities both in Romania and Norway.

The first of the protests took place in Bucarst yesterday. The Bodnariu family, with the support of the Romanian Family Alliance and the Association of Christian Police in Romania, organized a protest in front of the Norwegian Embassy in Bucharest on Saturday December 19. 

On the Facebook event page of the protest, the family wrote “all those interested in supporting the family of Marius and Ruth Bodnariu, and the recovery of their 5 children confiscated by the Norwegian “child protection” services (Barnevernet) are invited to join…to draw attention to the abuses made by the Barnevernet against Marius & Ruth Bodnariu and many other families whose children were seized by the same institution”. 

The organizers accused Barnevert of inflicting trauma and grief upon families in Norway, Europe, and the rest of the world. 

According to the protest organizers and police report, Six hundred protestors participated in the demonstration. 

During the protest, the parents called Norwegian authorities to intervene Barnvernet and accused the instituition of destroying the family, parents and children.
