Strongest Storm in 20 Years Hit Norway

Extreme weather Nina hits western coast of Norway and approaches toward eastern coast. Østfold, Vestfold, Buskerud, Telemark, Aust-Agder, Vest-Agder, Rogaland, Hordaland, Sogn og Fjordane are the areas the Norwegian meteorology institute issues a warning.

Flesland Airport in Bergen is closed down because of the storm. Flights that will be landed in Bergen fly further to Stavanger.

The extreme weather forecast is valid for these areas:

Østfold

From Saturday evening, the wind speed will be between 25 and 30 m per second. From Saturday evening water level will be 80-130 cm above the normal height and waves height will reach up to 3-6 m.

Vestfold

From late Saturday evening, wind speed wil reach up to 30 m/s. 

Buskerud

From Saturday evening, strong wind will blow in mountains. From late Saturday, the wind at 30 m/s will be felt in lowlands. 

Telemark

From late Saturday, wind at 30 m/s will prevail in lowlands.

Aust-Agder

From Saturday afternoon the wind will blow in lowlands at 30 m / s speed.

Vest-Agder

From Saturday afternoon, Nina hits both coastal areas and mauntains. From late Saturday afternoon westerly strong storm prevails on the coast of Lindesnes and wave heights reach to 8-10 m. 

Rogaland, Hordaland, Sogn og Fjordane

Southwest storm hits the coastal areas, it is soon expected that storm from west at around 35-45 m / s prevails. It is also expected height of waves along the coast can be 10 to 13 meters.
