People traveling in Schengen area and Scandinavian citizens do not need to have a passport to enter a country in Schengen area. But Norway police introduces new measures in the frame of the terrorist threat and made it compulsory to carry passport.
In the latest updated advice from the police on Friday night, it was stated that they control the internal Schengen borders and even Nordic citizens who are going to travel in the area must have a passport or driving license.
It also means that Norwegian citizens may be asked to produce identification upon entry back to Norway after having been in neighboring countries such as Sweden and Finland, writes NRK.
Misconceptions about the rules led on Saturday to Norwegians who were going home from vacation in neighboring countries were denied access to the ferry.
