Several Mountain Passes Closed in Northern Norway

The wind raging in the mountains and Haukelifjell Venabygdsfjellet and Hardangervidda are closed due to bad weather, according to the Norwegian Public Roads Administration.

On Haukeliseter, the distance between Vågslidvatn tunnel and Austmannslitunnelen are closed. Administration has recently announced that other mountain passes in the region can be closed at short notice.

Also Venabygdsfjellet in Hedmark is closed due to inclement weather. Hardangervidda is closed to vehicles with total weight below 7.5 tonnes.

Over Vikafjellet in Sogn og Fjordane and Hordaland is also closed for heavy vehicles and convoys.

It is windy in the mountains, combined with snow showers in several places. Thus, the driving conditions are difficult, warns the Roads Administration in a press rlease. This includes Dovre in Oppland. Here the temperature is -2 degrees, stormy weather and snow showers lead to ice and reduced visibility.

Hemsedal mountains have also snow and ice, reduced visibility in some places.
