Norwegian daily {VG} makes headline the book «En norsk tragedie – Anders Behring {Breivik} og veiene til {Utøya}» (A Norwegian tragedy – Anders Behring Breivik and the roads to Utøya). The book was written by literary scholar Aage Storm Borchgrevink. In the book, the author tells Breivik’s life from birth to the terrorist attacks on {22 July} last year.Â
Author has collected data from child welfare documents and disclosed intimate descriptions of Breivik family. Accordingly, his mother was single having psychological problems until he was 18 and Breivik was neglected in terms of family care.Â
Borchgrevink thinks describing the details of the care failure he faced may help to detect the roots of his hatred.Â
Psychology Professor Svenn Torgersen disagrees with Borchgrevink’s conclusions.Â
– There is no reason to say that his violent actions are somewhat stemming from what many children experience, the professor says to VG and adds that neglect is not necessarily detrimental in this case.Â
Reminding Breivik has a narcissistic personality disorder, he notes that there is no evidence showing his personality disorder is linked to his childhood or his mother’s psychological problems.
