Every Fifth Entrepreneur in Norway is Immigrant

Last year, immigrants and their children have started 21 percent of all new enterprises in Norway, according to the figures from Statistics Norway (SSB). This group is thus far more interested in running their own companies than the national average.

The ratio has increased sharply from 2002 when it was under 11 percent. Particularly, immigrants dominate the accommodation and service-related businesses, where 56 percent of the business people in these sectors are from another country.
