Increase in Tax Evation

According to the numbers declared by Tax Office in eastern Norway, since 2009 the tax evasion has had a significant increase in the form of joint stock companies managed by the owners and their families who buys expensive boats, cabins and holiday homes abroad.

“These purchased goods are supposedly to be used for rental or commercial activities, but we find neither marketing expenditure nor leasing income statements in the accounts of the owners,” said Easter Norway Tax Office Deputy Manager Nina Lewis Funnemark.

“We have reason to believe that the scale is much larger than we have been able to reveal. The amount of evasion we have uncovered is 426 million which is also very high compared to how little resources we have spent on this research. We have so far concentrated on companies with the largest capital items,” says Funnemark to VG.
