Norwegian Airline to Buy a US Airline Company to Avoid the Restriction

Norwegian bought this week Irish operation permission for subsidiary Norwegian Air International to fly long distance between Europe, Asia and USA. This however is useless if they do not get traffic rights in the United States.

– Then we have two choices. We can either fly with the company’s current permit today, or buy another airline, says Kjos to Dagens Næringsliv.

He adds that the former option is out of the question, because the Norwegian license has too many limitations.

– We have about three to four deals on companies we can buy, said Kjos.

American unions want the Norwegian subsidiary to be denied their rights because the company is established outside Norway and fly with Asian personnel between the U.S. and Europe. Norwegian said they expect a solution shortly.
