Flood Warning for Troms and Finnmark

Norwegian Water Resources and Energy Directorate (NVE)warned against a flood in small and medium-sized rivers in Troms and Finmark

NVE warned heavy rainfall in northern Norway today and tomorrow (22 - 23 July 2010), particularly in Finnmark and in the inner parts of Troms. In the warning message, it was reported that heavy rain will cause rapidly rising water levels in small and medium-sized rivers. Discharge in the medium and large rivers is not expected to reach the level of high risk flooding, but it will be over the season avarage.

It was also noted that heavy precipitation causes increased risk of landslides, especially along streams and rivers with high water flow.
