The government allocated 4.31 million kroner to the National Center for Free Software (Friprog Center) to provide free software in the public sector.

Friprogsenteret is an independent, government-funded Center for Free SoftwareAnd assists with using free software, or develop free software in IT solutions/Frigprogsenteret

The government allocated 4.31 million kroner to the National Center for Free Software (Friprog Center) to provide free software in the public sector.

- Free software gives ownership of their IT solutions and reduces supplier bindings that can be unhealthy for competition in the software market. Free software is designed to be shared and developed, and is therefore an exciting business model that fits the public good, "said Renewal and Reform chief, Heidi Grande Røys.

Friprog Center was established in 2007, and aims to improve knowledge about free software in the public sector. The center works to ensure the quality of free software to make it available to all users.
