Israel Frustrated with Norwegian Children's Book
The Israeli Embassy reacted strongly to Kulturråd (Arts Council of Norway) supported the children book Pappa er sjørøver (Daddy's pirate) “because Israeli soldiers are portrayed in a bad light.”
Israeli Ambassador Michael Eligal does not like the book by Hans Sande, and has expressed his frustration in a letter to the Minister of Culture Anniken Huitfeldt (AP), according to Dagens Næringsliv. “Israel and its soldiers, a friendly country and a friendly army, are presented terribly in this book for young children,” said the ambassador.
