Chinese officials made clear that the peace prize would damage relations between China and Norway in the first press conference after the controversial Nobel Peace Prize award.

Norwegian daily, Dagbladet followed the weekly press conference at the Chinese Foreign Ministry. The ministry's spokesman Ma Zhaoxu explicitly stated that the Nobel prize will damage relations between China and Norway. - This shows no respect for China's legal system, this is a convicted person in China.", said Zhaoxu in the press conference. He also noted that the Norwegian government gave support to the award and this has damaged the bilateral relationship between two countries. In his speech, the Chinese spokesman implied that the Norwegian government is irresonsible as they think they support a wrong decision and suggested that any responsible government should know what they should do and not do. He concluded his statements telling that Chinese people have many reasons to be dissatisfied and there will be consequences for this.
