The Conservative Party leader, Erna Solberg said her party would move more towards the center of politics, and they would be a welfare party till the election in 2013.

Former Young Conservative leader and member of parliament for the party, Torbjørn Røe Isaksen supported Solberg's statements. He noted it is positive to see that the Right wing decided not to leave the welfare debate to left alone.
However, Socialist Left Party (SV)'s parliamentary leader, Bård Vegar Solhjell said Conservatives has never become a welfare party.
- It's like saying that SV is an oil party , says Solhjell in his interwiev with Dagsavisen.
He pointed out that the Conservative Party have argued against voting rights for women, 8- hour workday, the establishment of the Loan Fund , and the introduction of old age insurance , disability and unemployment benefits throughout history.

Høyre now adopts an ideology based on a mixture of classic, conservative values, economic liberalism and a more tolerant attitude in social policy.
