Norway’s Liberal Party to Move Jobs Out of Oslo

Venstre’s municipal spokesperson, André N. Skjelstad, has recently been on an educational trip in Denmark and came back with refreshed motivation to move government jobs out of the capital, writes Bergens Tidende.

Denmark’s Prime Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen already started planning the move of 3,900 government jobs out of Copenhagen.

– It’s about spreading power, but also about building up expertise in other cities, comments Skjelstad to the newspaper.

In summer Christian Democrats (KrF) and Liberal Party (Venstre) engaged the government in reporting on the existing and new jobs that can be moved out of Oslo. In Denmark the relocation of jobs is needed in order to prevent the country from splitting in two parts – one of development and one of liquidation. Venstre now calls for speeding up the plans of the relocation of jobs from the capital.
