Most of the Roma people in Norway are entitled to financial relief according to the law on social services. Oslo municiplaity has already paid several of them to go home, according to NRK .

The municipality's social council member from Conservative Party, Anniken Hauglie confirmed the payment and said she is not satisfied that the Roma people fall under this scheme.

- It will not be sustainable if the host country will get the bill for tourists who travel around without being able to support themselves, she says to NRK.

This law was introduced to ensure the most basic assistance to the most disadvantaged. Oslo municiplaity has previously covered the residence of an EEA national who had surgery at a Norwegian hospital.
