The Russian cargo ship "Alaed" was stopped with combat helicopters near Scotland a few days ago, while it was heading to Syria along the Norwegian coast. The ship's cargo caused a major political issue earlier this week, as the United States and Great Britain claimed the ship was carrying illegal weapons to the Assad regime, which the Russians denied.

Norwegian Military operational headquarters confirmed to TV 2 that they have followed the ship's movements along the Norwegian coast.

- We are aware that it was sailing along the Norwegian coast. Latest data of the ship was recorded at 18.00, said military spokesman Bent-Ivan Myhre to tv2.no.

On the other hand, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has confirmed in an exclusive interview to Russia Today that the Russian ship bound for Syria was carrying 3 Syrian helicopters that had been repaired in Russia.
