Last Thursday, 54 prisoners at the Bjorgvin prison were set free, as the prison officers have gone on strike. Progress Party politician Robert Eriksson protested the practice. He believes it is an insult to people's respect for law and strike. The leader of the Parliamentary Labour and Social Committee also fears that the decision will have serious consequences.

- Some of those released criminals are heavy drug users. I fear that they are thrown out of a life which they are not able to handle, said Eriksson.

FrP politician suggests it is important to respect the right to strike, but this strike has gone too far.

Between 25,000 and 30,000 workers are on strike in Norway from Thursday morning after negotiations for employees of state and local authorities broke down.
