New organic EU logo on Foods

New organic EU logo will be mandatory to use after 1 July 2010 on all packaged products that are produced in the EU. However, Norway will apply it when the new organic regulations in place.

New organic EU logo will be mandatory to use after 1 July 2010 on all packaged products that are produced in the EU.

In Norway it is first required the use of organic EU logo when the new ecology regulations are implemented. The final date for this is currently unclear. A consultative process for change of the general ecology framework is ongoing with deadline 1 July.

In addition, the new EU organic logo and its use will be sent for consultation and preparation for this process. The adaptations of the EEA Agreement will be required before the new ecological regulations are put into application. For the EU logo its part, this includes the origin marking and code for the control body.

The introduction of the EU logo will have no consequences for the use of Debio's Ø-mark. National brands will still be used in marketing and promotion of organic foods in addition to the EU logo
