Last week, a conflict has arisen in the company as a result of Norwegian's increasing use of temporary employment agencies rather than employees in permanent positions. The pilots said that the frequent use of temporary workers is reminiscent of the controversial personnel policy in Ryanair and demanded a change.
The process is now moving towards mediation, and if not successful, the company will experience its first strike that can affect 45,000 passengers, according to TV2. The experts think the conflict is far from solution.
After the first meeting on Tuesday afternoon, leader of the Norwegian Pilot Association (NPF), Halvor Vatnar said they could not agree on terms. Norwegian's information manager Åsa Larsson, on the other hand, said they can take the case to the national mediator if the parties can not agree soon.
